Today the Browns showed off, their much needed, updated look. As everyone thought and hoped for, they went back to their classic, iconic, roots. To be honest, it puts them right back up near the top when it comes to the best unis in the league (I will be doing my NFL Uni Rankings once everyone has revealed their unis this offseason).

I don't need to go over the mess that was the last Browns unis. I think everyone is pretty much in agreement at how bad they turned out to be. They weren't all bad though. I love what they did with the helmet, that matte orange with the brown face mask. Love it. Though I would much rather have the stripes on the pants, I did enjoy the "BROWNS" down the side of the pants. I know I am in the minority on that one lol. Pretty much all of it is universally disliked. When I heard they finally decided to rework everything about a year ago, I had a feeling of what they were going to do.

The "new" unis are everything I was hoping for. Just rewind. Take it back to the old school look. This IS the Browns. The Brown jerseys with the white and orange stripes on the shoulders are by far my favorite combo. The same stripes on the socks. Fantastic look. Maybe the best socks in the entire league. The white jersey and brown pants are all looking great as well. Not only do I love that they removed that big "CLEVELAND" wordmark across the chest, but I LOVE that they don't have a wordmark there at all. It has always been a pet peeve of mine. I know it is for merch when they sell jerseys (at least that is what I believe it is there for lol), but everyone KNOWS what jersey is what if they are buying one, or if they are fans. Seeing that they don't have a wordmark tells me they feel like "You know who we are" and it's awesome. If I didn't already drop $150 on a Brady jersey I would be buying a sweet Brown jersey. Seeing these unis back puts a smile on my face. Maybe it is the old school in me. But I am so happy to see these again.

They also have the "color rush" uni which is pretty much what they have been wearing for a couple of seasons now, just without the stripes on the shoulders and pants. I don't hate em. I don't love them either. Especially compared to the old school look, these are just okay. Like a stripped-down version of the main uni. I was trying to think of what I would do to make them a little better (for me), but I really can't think of anything. The color rush sets stick to this set of rules (full disclosure, I have always disliked this "color rush" fad) and I guess there isn't much they could have done besides this and what they had before.

Now for all the fools who are saying "the Browns are really going back to 2002?!?". Take a look here at Jim Brown, back in the '60s. Think about that for a second. Just because YOU only remember 2002 doesn't mean they weren't there before that. THIS is their iconic look. They went back to it as they should have. But you have those ignorant people spewing nonsense by saying things like "BORING!". And as I tweeted earlier:

It's either "trash" and "high school" like, when a team does something different. Or it's "BORING!!" when a team goes traditional. People need to just stop talking. Always have to complain no matter what it is.

The Browns, despite all they have been through, are an iconic franchise. The NFL needs the Browns. Though everyone hates on them at times, we all love the Browns, I don't care what you say lol. Though the Browns physically didn't go away, again, they did in spirit. What we saw on the field the last few years were not the Browns. THESE are the Browns. THIS is what they look like. And I couldn't be happier for them and their fans.
