In this series, I will be looking back on each NFL team and picking out my favorite logo, uniform, moment, and player in the history of that team. Next up, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars came into the NFL as an expansion team in 1995. Their logo was pretty cool at the time. Even today a lot of people still look back fondly on it and the unis that accompanied it. The first season I ever watched was in '94, so the Jags have as many years playing as I have watched. Pretty cool I think. I tend to love many team's original looks far more than the current one. However, I LOVE the Jaguars unis of today. The logo is better and the unis are fantastic. The best they ever had in both categories. Though I know some will disagree STRONGLY.

Today's logo is better detailed, better designed and utilizes the colors better. The uniforms are so simple that they are beautiful. I know they may be completely boring to some, maybe even most, but to me, they couldn't be more perfect. First, that teal is gorgeous. When it's matched with the black it brings it to a whole new level. I love that the numbers aren't outlined. I believe that is unique among the rest of the league (if I am not forgetting anyone). The only real detail is the two sharp stripes on the collar and a small chunk of color on the inner knee of the pants. They also have the Jaguars logo as a patch on the left side of the chest which I love, thankfully removing the badge looking design they had on their last jerseys. Their whole set is mixed with black, teal, and white for the jersey and the pants giving the team nine different uni combinations. My favorite is definitely teal on black. But then teal on white and white on black would come in 2nd and 3rd. I like all of the combos but those would be the best in my opinion.

Now I would like to point out that it took them almost 10 years to land back on a good looking uni. They traded in their "classic" unis, in '09, for what could have been a good set if it wasn't for those weird pipings on their jersey and pants. It was so odd. The jersey piping went from the front upper chest down and around to the back at the bottom of the numbers. The piping on the pants followed a similar weird path and it just didn't look right. If it had left those out, I think it would have been similar to the unis they have right now. At least they eventually figured out they were on to something. They also had a small tint of teal in their helmets when the sun shined off of them. I thought that was a cool touch, but I still prefer just straight-up black on the lids. From there they moved on to the two-toned helmet with a very complicated uni, and they made the decision to implement the gold of the jaguar into basically every part of the uniform. I don't think that was a good decision. It didn't look very good to me. The only aspect I liked about the change was the new logo. Everything else was too busy and all over the place. I personally think that period of time was their worst look in the history of the team. But of course, that is just MY take on them.

My favorite moment in Jaguars history is when they went to Denver to play the heavily favorite Broncos in the Divisional Round of the 1996 playoffs. In theory, there was no way the Jags were going to win. But yet they pulled it off, stunning the football world. That may be the best moment in Jaguars history. If they would of beat the Patriots to go to the Super Bowl in 2018 that would have topped it. I think I may live tweet this game sometime this week. It was a great one.

My favorite player in Jaguars history was MJD. Maurice Jones-Drew. I thought he was a great player who was underrated in his time. I am not saying he was Hall of Fame worthy, but he was the team's best player and one of the top players overall in the league during a period in his career from 2009 to 2011. He owns quite a few franchise records including, but not limited to, Most career touchdowns (81), Most rushing yards in a single season (1,606 in 2011), and Most career kickoff return yards (2,054). He WAS the face of that franchise for quite a while. Unfortunately for a uniform lover like myself, he spent most of his career in the 2 bad unis I mentioned previously. But I was able to snag a picture of him in the "classic" uni for this article.

I think that wraps up this edition of "My Favorite In Team History". This is the 5th, so if you missed the last 4 make sure you check out the NFL category and read up on them. Do you have different favorites? Especially favorite moments. Let me know on twitter. I would love to hear all of the cool moments that mean something to all of you!
