In this series, I will be looking back on each NFL team and choosing my favorite logo, uniform, moment, and player in the history of that team. Next up, the Washington Redskins.
The Redskins have been a touchy topic, over the last decade, for their name and logo. But you can't dismiss the fact that they have great unis lol. I love the colors and the simplistic style of the design. There are a few tiny details I would change in their current set, but it wouldn't matter explaining because they are not my favorite unis in the history of the Redskins.

Yes, I just said I think the current set for the Redskins is great. However, I LOVE the "Spearhead" unis they wore back in 2002. As a complete package, the unis, colors and logo, this is by far my favorite Redskins look of all time. I adore the traditional sleeve stripe design, added with the spear logo. Same with the pants. The traditional stripe down the side, with the spear logo at the hip. Those stripes on the socks are just wonderful. I wish more teams wore a similar style. I am not big on grey facemasks, but I think it goes perfectly here with these unis. The numbers are traditionally blocked and, a sight I have been loving lately, the numbers are not outlined. I think some teams overdo it sometimes. Numbers don't always require outlines to look good, at least that's how I feel about it. I even love the spear patch which was used for their 70th anniversary, but if you were to bring this look back, bring the patch back full-time. Make the number '32, for the year they were created (1932). Or something along that line, find a way to keep the patch is what I am saying. You can't go wrong with this set or their current ones, but I would love it if they decided to make the change back to this look.

Actually, if you want to go a little further, what about the version they wore in the '60s? Current colors and style, with the spearhead logo/helmet. I would be okay with this look also. Man do I love that "NFL 50" patch on the shoulder. It's beautiful. I would love to have a replica of that jersey. Old school style jerseys just have a particular charm to them that today's football jerseys can't match.
I don't actually have a fond memory of the Redskins. At least none that come to mind. I did enjoy the Redskins when they had RG3 and he was something special in that short amount of time he was the starter. I became a semi-fan when, my favorite player of all time, Deion Sanders joined the team for that one season in 2000. But as far as something I have seen with my own eyes, "live", there isn't anything that I can recollect. I've been following the NFL since '94, and the Redskins haven't truly been good for quite a while. Their last best season was in 1991 when they went 14-2. Since I have been watching, the best they have done is 10-6, 3 times. I mean, c'mon. 3 times in 25 years?

While his career was cut short due to a fatal conflict, my favorite player in Redskins history is Sean Taylor. This dude would knock people's heads off their shoulders! This man right here, he was the definition of being a "dawg". If he was playing in today's game he would be getting fined and ejected every game lol. He wasn't a dirty player, but he hit HARD. Just by the mere impact I cant only assume the refs would be throwing flags on every hit. He only played 4 seasons before he was murdered but he is thought of as one of the best, by many. Just imagine what kind of impact he would have had with 4 more seasons. If you haven't heard of Taylor, or just need a refresher, go YouTube some highlight clips.
That wraps up this edition of "My Favorite In Team History". This is the 6th, so if you missed the last 5 make sure you check out the NFL category and read up on them. Do you have different favorites? Especially favorite moments. Let me know on twitter. I would love to hear all of the cool moments that mean something to all of you!
