The day many Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans have been waiting for! New Uniforms! Though the Bucs have not officially announced it, and this is a mockup found on Uni-Watch.com and also reported on by SportsLogos.net, they say this is pretty much what the uniforms are going to look like. I want to talk about it on a personal level though. I hated the current uniforms since they were revealed. Since Nike has taken uniform responsiblities for the NFL, the uniform changes have been... more miss than hit. The Jaguars set up with the 2 tone helmet was absolutely terrible. But they did hit with the current Jags unis which I think are perfect. The Seahawks were a hit, the Browns were a big mistake (they are getting new unis as well before the start of the season), the Titans I am okay with, but the Buccaneers were a disaster. The alarm clock numbers, which were reflective, the chrome facemask, the pewter sholders. Any uniform that has a different color on the shoulders than the rest of the jersey, I hate. I can't stand it. But the one thing that I loved about the change, was the oversized logo on the helmet. I think that style fits this team more so than any other team in the league. It just looks so good! And from what these guys are saying, it's here to stay.

Now, as you can see from the images, these looks pretty much the same as the unis they won the Super Bowl in. Which are the best unis this organization ever had. Everything these mockups show is a HUGE improvement over what they have been wearing over the last couple years. I never understood why they got rid of the black in their color scheme, and to remove that black face mask for chrome, though I loved the helmet logo, just ruined it. The return to block numbers over that hideous style they used previously makes me happy.
I don't think there is anyone, anywhere, who is unhappy about the Bucs moving on from the current unis. They are just so bad. I can't speak for anyone, but I have to imagine that players did not like playing in these. As Deion Sanders always said, you look good, you feel good. You feel good, you play good. And there is no mistaking the Bucs played just as bad as the looked. When teams look good, it improves the product all around. I can't wait to see the Rams, Falcons and Browns new looks. But now the question becomes... will Tom Brady want to wear these new uniforms?
